Geoscience Data Analyst (Summer Student/Intern)

Divestco is looking for a Data Analyst to develop high value data products that meet the requirements of stakeholders while growing the Divestco Data inventory. Analysts will work with the Geospatial Data Manager to augment existing data sets, develop new data products and develop methodologies for extracting data from existing documents.  This position is for the summer term.

 Supervision Received

Reports to Manager – Geospatial Data.

 Working Conditions

Office environment with open concept offices or remotely depending on COVID protocols.

 Responsibilities of the Position

Job Specific

Work with government agencies to identify, source and extract relevant data types.

Liaise with other data team members to collaborate on Divestco’s technical capabilities, processes and knowledge base. Includes participation in daily scrums.

Work with internal stakeholders to provide analysis regarding the best strategies for data delivery and acquisition.

Strive to continually improve technical and developmental skills.

Excellent spoken and written communication with management, team members and clients.

 Qualifications

Education and Work Experience

2nd to 4th year student persuing a degree in Geology, Geomatics or a Geoscience related discipline.

Experience with different Geoscience data sets.

Ability to reconstruct subsurface directional surveys from raw data.

Requires strong trigonometry skills.

Must be a Canadian citizen, full time student and eligible for the Student Work Placement Program
