Multi-Client Services

The multi-client seismic business of Divestco creates market and operates seismic surveys. Once an area has been selected through in-house expertise, Divestco approaches oil companies to subscribe for seismic information prior to such information being gathered in the field. When sufficient subscriptions have been procured, Divestco hires sub-contractors to perform the variety of tasks involved in conducting a survey. Through their subscriptions, which Divestco records as multi-client sales, oil companies purchase an exclusive license to explore with the seismic information provided by Divestco. Divestco retains the ownership rights to continue to license the data to interested parties after the exclusivity period has ended.

The competitive advantages to oil companies in subscribing for seismic information include:

• the ability to evaluate large tracts of land with cost-effective seismic
• the ability to explore in an area on a confidential basis
• the opportunity to interpret new, high quality data with little competition (the only competitors being other subscribers) during a six-month exclusivity period
• the ability to relocate personnel to other tasks that would otherwise be tied up supervising the acquisition of seismic data
